This redbadged Lite-On is an LTR-1610B which comes with NTI firmware which includes a bunch of junk that I don't want to use, such as Musicmatch, Music Tracks, Acid Extra, Internet access. I have the latest Nero version that's compatible with XPpro. I have not yet installed the CD-RW. Do I need to install the NTI firmware to get the CD-RW operational first and then install the latest driver and Nero? I sure would like to avoid installing all that junk that comes on the NTI.

In essence I would like to install just the latest drivers and the Nero. Can I do this without first installing the NTI firmware? And if so, what is the best way to go about this?

Thanks.
