I don't want to pay it and I'm not going to buy it but I'm still going to call it out for its unreasonable price, which is the topic of this thread.
I don't think anyone is bothered by the fact that the PSP Go costs more than the PSP-3000. That makes perfect sense. What doesn't is pricing it at $250 which is well beyond the cost of a base Xbox 360 and right next to the Wii. I don't really care if it costs Sony $230 to make one, that's too expensive for a handheld system running a 4-5 year-old platform.
I know it was a joke. But, you know, some people might actually be thinking that without joking.
Overpriced, sure, but unreasonable? I don't think so. Like I said, it'll cost extra to keep two PSP models going at the same time, especially with a such a different design. And, to the average consumer, 16gb + bluetooth PLUS a sleeker design will be worth the extra cash. A 16gb memory stick pro duo alone bumps up the PSPs cost like crazy. Tack on a cooler design with bluetooth...yeah, most people will see this as a deal. Only the tech-savvy people will see the truth.
And so what if it's a 4-5 year old platform? That doesn't mean it's outdated or bad. Sony's done a pretty good job expanding the features of the PSP over the years...doesn't look like handhelds will be advancing anytime soon (what with the DSi and new PSP Go).
Of course, the price will become unreasonable for sure if Sony doesn't let people download their UMD games for free.
