I have one with the video screen and it is a ton of fun. Your going to want atleast 1000 balls so your not constantly trying to play and re-fill the machine though ;)

there are a bunch of pins and the balls fall down and hit the pins and move around. you try to get the balls into a special area.

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Pachinko may be the
hobby that you have been looking for.
Pachinko, often described as 'Japanese Pinball', is a game in which the player buys a large quantity of
silver balls and feeds them into a sort of vertical pinball machine where the
balls cascade around, their paths determined by small metal pins. If any of the
balls land in a small hole in the center, the player wins more balls, which he
can feed back into the machine or exchange for prizes.

Please describe what exactly you do with it too! Thanks!

In japan pachinko machines are a form of gambling like slot machines. You buy balls, play, and try to win many balls as possible. Then you reedem your balls to the teller at the pachinko area and they give you a piece of paper/stub indicating how much you won. You bring the stub to another nearby, fairly discrete place where you can reedem this stub for money, cigarettes and such.

I took a picture of my old pachinko machine and breifly described how to works.

Yeah. I had a friend who had one when I was a kid.

Fun for a while, but it gets boring fast. Without the gambling it just makes a nice display piece for your gameroom.

I beg to differ with the newer ones. It has a lcd screen that has action going on depending on where the ball end up going. Its mainly luck of the ball. You have a controll knob that will vary the speed the ball shoots out and with mine it has a screen that also tilts with the on going action. Its mainly for amusement but the newer ones with the lights, loud sounds, lcd screen actions, balls shooting everywhere and droping into holes making the machine just light up and go crazy I can spend a hour or two on it everytime I fire it up. Mine also incorperates a button you have to constaly tap like crazy when going into possable jackpot mode. Then when you hit jackpot the balls are flying out of the machine like crazy and if your lucky to hit super jackpot mine goes utterly nuts for a half hour with the screen tilting, loud rock and roll music, with ongoing ball and screen action.

I would say if you like slots you will love this machine even more :D

the lord of the rings one about 4 months ago was going for well over $500 on ebay. That price they are offering is an absolute steal and has actual clips of the movie in with the action. It is at the price I paid for my non-theme unit and if it was that pice it is now I would of been all over it. With the Pink Panther movie out $199 seems like a great deal if your a fan of the shows.

yours is the older one I remember playing as a kid. the newer ones is like that but if your a gamer like I am it makes it even more fun imo. Mine is loud as all hell with great sounds. Mine has a volume switch which had loud and ear pearcing loud. From what I see on the site there thoes may have a volume knob which would of been a big help with mine but once its all going and its going nuts you get used to it.

That one of yours shoots out three balls and when you hit jackpot on mine it shoots out hunfdreds of balls coming from all over the machine hence why you need a min of 1000 balls with these newer ones. 500 is a great start but if you hit jackpot you will be filling the machine often as it is paying you out.

$199 and up for the ones on their front page, plus the $49 shipping. There have been some deals on these things. Ollies Bargain Outlet (east coast) had them cheap around christmas.

I can sum up what it is like playing one for me.
It a:
Pinball machine
Slot machine
Video game
Vegas lights and sound
all wrapped into one machine.
And if you get a movie themed one like I orginally wanted even more fun watching parts of a movie within all the action ;)
