Paalm IIIC turns on but nothing on the screen...

Hey, I had a Palm IIIC that's been sitting in my house for over a year. I opened the box and charged the unit. Tried to turn it on and nothing seemed to be happening. I hold it up to the sunlight at an angle, and I can see that the unit is on, but looks like the battery is dead. I put a meter to the battery and it is fully charged. But I read somewhere that there is a problem with screens on this thing!? Of course the 1 year warranty is up. But I was wondering if the problem is the screen itself or something called a digitizer? It's weird because the unit turns on but it doesn't seem to "light" up the screen!!! Please help. Also, I know Palm can repair for $75 (I think). But do you think it is worth it? This unit has not ever been used you know?!?!

Have you tried to perform a reset?

Yes I did the hard and soft reset. I didn't try it while it was sitting in the charger though. What do you think?

Did you check the contrast/Brightness? I forgot if the IIIC has a dial, or if its controlled with the up/down buttons. Its been a long time since I worked for palm tech support.

I had the exact same problem. my dad won one about five or six years ago. we never opened it until last year. when we took it out of the box it wouldn't show anything on the screen. called Palm and it's DOA.
