P9X79 Boards' Prices

Why are P9X79 boards are so f*ckingly expensive?! I haven't seen anything like that in recent years! The cheapest one is still close to $300. What are we heading into?

X79 is enthusiast level which will command the price premium. If you want cheaper you can go P68/Z68. That should cover the rest of the pricing spectrum.

You're asking why a premium enthusiast product has a premium price?
The clue is in the market segment it's aimed at.

of course, there is the little issue of needing a more complex board to get all those extra socket pins to their destination while still being a similar length (RAM ones) to reduse issues with high frequency communications.

edit: but then, if you can afford a $600AU CPU (still the cheapest option of the two IIRC, price is local), then a $300 motherboard is nothing.

Why is a Ferrari so expensive? Why is a Lear jet so expensive? Why are diamonds the size of your left testicle so expensive?

You want to pay less? Buy cheaper products.

Like everyone says -

You want performance / power? You pay for it.

You want the latest release? You pay for that too.

Can you live with a Z68? And I would bet that most people can, then you will spend considerably less on a system - I love mine.

most x58 mb are still running after years of heavy 24\7 overclock's.
-mines been @ 4.0-4.2 from oct. 2009. 1400mh and a 0.3v oc.

-intel must put the law down as far as low spec's min. on these high end boards [x],other wise every mb maker would have a cheap bare min.\under spec. model.
