P90 Intel Overdrive Upgrade?

I have an old IBM P330. Model #6576-45F with a P90. It has a slot 5, 320 pin, 3.3v. Will it run a Intel Overdrive MMX either 166 or 200? If not, what is the best alternative short of a new motherboard.

Intel's site says check with IBM for this model. IBM says it should work. I am looking for more assurances.

Also what is a good price to pay for the Overdrive? I have seen the 166 MMX for $45.

Thanks in advance!

Actually this is a second PC in the house. It is for my 11 year-old. I have an AMD K6-300 which still gets the job done.

Can you tell me where I might find a Pentium 200 Classic?

A Pentium Classic 200 isn't socket 5 though is it? I thought most 166 MHz and above Pentiums were socket 7. You might want to either try that P166 MMX overdrive, or see if a P133 will work in that motherboard. I know my socket 5 board supports anything from a P90 to a P133.

Thanks for the tips so far.

I talked to IBM tech the other day and gave them the model and serial number. They said the machine will work with the 166 Overdrive but gave me the part number P54CT. This must be the IBM part number because it doesn't match any Intel numbers.

Seems the going price for a 166 MMX Overdrive is around $29. Any suggested sources?

I saw that the one posted uptopic for $15 already has taker!
