P8z68 tweaking

Just installed this motherboard with an i7K

Question. I have a vertex 2 ssd , can that be plugged into the ata 6.0gb/s port? Or do I need to use the 3.0?

As far as setting up and tweaking the bios, any suggestions? Looking at just oc'ing it to 3.8 or 4.0 because I'm on air cool. I don't run raid, any other tweaks to the bios I need to know about?

Your SSD is SATA II, you can plug it into SATA III port, there's no harm, but it will work just as well on the SATA II port.

Don't the ASUS mobos come with a inbuilt OCing option? where you just click "Maximum Performance" and that's it!!

I can not find where to set the LLC on this mb in the bios. Does it not have that option?

It is in AI tweaker look here http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?2453-P67-Z68-BIOS-Guide-BASIC-Intermediate-Overclocking .

Load-Line Calibration: Sets a margin between the BIOS applied voltage and actual voltage to compensate for overshoot. To clarify; overshoot is a short duration (Intel specification stipulates less than 25 micro-seconds at stock voltages) voltage excursion beyond applied processor VID. We recommend a setting of High or Ultra-High for most overclocking.

If you are just going to 4.0, I would set the multi to 40, and not worry about anything else..

What he said. Overclocking on this mobo is not to complicated. If you install the overclocking software that comes with the mobo all you have to do is click a button. I tried it. It got me up to 4.3ghz by just doing that. I uninstalled it and went into the bios...I wanted to get to 4.5ghz 🙂

Please avoid the built in overclocking software. It puts way too much voltage through the cpu for any given speed. You would be better off setting up the overclock yourself.

In bios change the multi to 40 and leave everything else as it is. It's that simple. Either way check your temps under heavy load if you have the stock intel HSF.
