Running 1053 still.
Intel 80 GB SSD not visible in boot devices (Same as PioneerPro's issue)

When I proceed with Win7x64 install, it starts fine. SSD shows up, but then setup says something like "cannot install on this drive, cannot see partition", etc.

I've tried both types of Intel SATA in AHCI. Formatted SSD with diskpart, Win7, gpart. Still no go.

I read somewhere to try this on Intel in Raid mode, even if this is a single drive. Will try later.

No other HDDs present.

Is this a driver issue???

I took the SSD to other box and Win7 installs right away.

So, what are the steps to get Windows7 installed on Intell SSD with this mobo?

I used 6GB2 for my W7-64 install on my Intel 160. No problems , no hoops.

@majic7

How did you partition the drive?
SP1 on install disk?
Were you in AHCI?
What bios vers?
Really would appreciate a diskmanager screenshot

I just let Windows format it. I had an older W7-64 upgrade version on the disk, didn't want to risk doing a clean install with regedit again so I went to Office Depot and got a retail version of W7-64 HP. So no SP1. ACHI was defaulted on ports and in bios. 1053 bios.

Yeah, but you put it in one of the SATA 3GBs Intel ports - right?
NOT the INTEL SATA 6GBs ports.

No I have it plugged into the gray Intel SATA 6GB ports, first one IIRC. I am at work so can't check to be sure atm but I believe I used the topmost of the 6Gb ports.

I just got all anal and changed the 160 drive to 6GB1 and hooked up my backup WD640 to 6GB2. Still working.

Sorry, I have a may not post attachments deal in posting rules. I don't think disk management will tell you anything anyway. There is no mention of GPT at all. Just System Reserved as if it was a regular bios and not EFI. It doesn't look any different from my install on a Rampage Formula with the old style bios. Layout (Simple) Type (Basic) File System (NTSF). In the 100MB partition it says Healthy(System, Active, Primary Partition). In the C partition it says Healthy(Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)

Oh O.K.
FWIW posting an image is not an attatchment
Its the little image icon in reply menu
you just use the Win 7 snip tool and save image as JPG (not PNG)
then you go to tinypic dot com and browse to image and upload it and put image url itself (lowest link) in image url window in reply
>simple

Your situation seems to suggest that FIRST loading Win 7 on the SSD on SATA Intel 3GBs, then it will work on SATA 6GBs on 1053 bios. But there are lots of folks on 1253 that cant load Win 7 on CERTAIN SSD on Intel SATA 6GBs under any condition, and these are knowledgable users. And I have my own theory on this.
But I dont have an SSD - heh

No, I loaded the OS when it was attached to the 6GB port. Never had it on the 3GB.

Yea, no idea why people are having such different outcomes with the P67 boards. I even took a week off in case I had major problems, but so far it has been pretty smooth sailing. Haven't tried overclocking yet, going to wait on that. So far the only thing I have had happen is that I can't complete a WEI now that I changed the port and added my backup HD to a 6GB port. Hangs on the disk performance part. Did one before just to see what it said and it worked fine. My write performance is way down also in AS SSD.

Well, after a few tries I got all of this sorted out.

The main problem I had was 3ware RAID controller. Once I removed it, I could install Windows right away. After the install, I plugged it back in and all works fine.

Updated to 1203 bios anyway.

The problem was that Win7 install would start from my CD drive but after I had clicked the Start Install button a window would come up saying "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVDm or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note. If the windows installation media is in the drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
I now believe that the wording used by MS on this warning is bad and that the drivers needed are NOT the CD/DVD drivers at all but the RAID CONTROLLER and THE SATA ATA CONTROLLER drivers.
How you get those drivers on the iso image and CD was a problem to far for me as it basically is called a crap job by Microsoft and its not a bad burn.

This was pain in the Axxs and took me days to resolve even replacing my perfectly good ATA optical CD drive for a new SATA (unnecessarily).

I finaly resovled this install problem by using a very neat MS tool called “Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool”

Make sure you have a large USB (4Gb min) stick plugged in to a computer.
Open the tool and search for the iso file you downloaded from MS. (If you have an actual MS Win7 install disk from the shop create a iso file from this).
Just follow the next steps and you will have your bootable Win7 USB drive.
What to do next.
On the P8P67 the only motherboard ports that worked correctly with this boot stick was the USB2 ports 3 & 4 (4th block down). Page 2.46 iin the manual.
1) Place your bootable USB stick in the port and boot to the Bios screen
2) At the bottom of the screen click on the Boot Menu (F8) button
3) In the pop up window select the boot USB shown
Win7 will now install all the way.

Personally considering the cost, Microsoft obviously doesn’t give a Sh….

NOTE: If you are going to use RAID set this in the Bios before you load up Win7.
NOTE: Not all the eight SATA slots on the MB support CD drives.
NOTE: SSD drives are still bootable from SATA6g E! and E2 (navy blue)

Other problems I had that lots of folk also seam to have.
Cannot install updates from Windows Update.
In my case this was caused by a bad RAM module. As the install progressed the files would be written to the SSD but interrupts in the memory screwed up some DLL’s and others. Even though windows started up fine and some updates did go though it was the 193 faulty files that stopped it working. This issue alone took me 4 days to resolve. The moral is Always use a mem tester.
Took out the bad RAM and reinstalled Win7.

Thanks

Just spent the best part of a day unsuccessfully trying to install Windows 7 on my new ssd. Had all bios settings to what they should be and sata/ahci drivers at the ready, should I need them but no disc showed up at windows installation, even though I could see it in BIOS.
Turns out that after reading dozens of forums threads to no avail and I'm about to give up for the day, I notice this sentence and give it a try. Who'd have thought something so simple could cause so much frustration.

Thanks again

That is just crazy
The only thing I can think of is ea USB device becomes part of a que during boot. KB/mouse usually top 2 USB, perhaps Intel USB 2.0 ports 3 and 4 are next in line for detecton, if empty, time runs out.

Just cutious if you are still there
Was Win 7 bootable USB formatted FAT32 or NTFS?
Which ports FAILED to boot the install? Front case ports?
What method did you use to make it bootable?
Did you have legacy USB 2 set enabled in bios?
How large was USB stick?
I assume it was not USB 3?
Does your monitor have a USB hub or ports?
