P8p67 Evo Sata Cables

Hey,

I picked this mother board up for my bro's build. I know the board is cable of doing Sata 3. It came with two sets of Sata wires. Which I assume is Sata 2 vs 3.

Anyways, I want to know which ones are for Sata 3. I figure the all black ones are for Sata 2 and the ones with the white on them are Sata 3. Figure they wouldn't differentiate an the old tech over the new tech.

Thanks
Matt

You'll be fine using whatever color suits your tastes. You could try each cable color, and run a battery of benchmarks to confirm though...

I have a sata 3 capable hard drive. Would i really notice a diff between speeds. Its a normal 7200rpm hd 500gb

Having read previous reviews, the SATA3 cables are those with the ones with the white on them. Theoretically transfers should be faster between the hard drives buffer, but you are still physically limited by the mechanical nature of the disk.

Remember to pick the SATA3 ports on the board (intel ones should be best)

If its the same as my p8p67 deluxe they are the black and white ones and if you look really closely they are labeled as sata 6gbs but its very small.
