P8P67 BIOS Resets

Last week I installed a new Asus P8P67 Pro Rev 3.1. It works well except for one problem. If I shut down the machine for more than a moment, the bios resets to its default state and it is necessary to unplug the power supply for a few seconds before it will restart. It goes into sleep mode without a problem but having to reset all the bios settings each time I shut it down is getting old. Any insight into what is causing this problem would be appreciated.

Can you check the Vbat voltage in the BIOS? If its below 3V you may need to replace it. Is the battery firmly in place? Do you have a reset CMOS jumper on the board that maybe in the wrong position?

Thanks for the good advice. There was no jumper installed across pins 1 and 2 of the clear CMOS jumper block. This meant the battery was never connected to the circuit. Apparently my new board was shipped without this jumper. I installed a jumper and the problem is solved.
