Im having an issue with windows 7 and the front panel audio.
The setup is as follows, have a logitech z5500 set of speakers plugged into the back. Have a set of headphones and mic plugged into the front.

It does not turn off the back speakers like it is suppose to when plugging in the front panel audio. Now i have tried the setting in the bios for HD Audio and AC97 and same, tried setting the speaker setup in the Via Audio control panel to Independent and Redirected

So the main question is anyone with this series of boards that use front panel, does it turn off the rear speakers when the head phones are plugged in? And if so what are your settings in the bios and Via Audio control panel

EDIT -- forgot to mention, i have checked for updated drivers but from asus and via and its the same that are installed

Thanks

I don't know what VIA control panel looks like, but you may want to double check to see if you've missed anything. In Realtek control panel, there is an option for that. By default, it is (should be) set to mute the speakers when a headset is connected. If you're using a USB headset, then you may have to go to Window's control panel and manually select the output you want to use.

Yeah, thats what the via panel has too, they just call it independent(front and back) and redirected(front only). I had some more time to play with it and it also happen under windows xp as well.

Going to try another board that i have a the shop to see if it does it with that one, Realtek audio on it. But it's looking like it might be the front panel design of the case

But was curious if anyone has the boards that can try the front panel as well to see if the same thing happens
