p6x58d-premium and memory issue

Just replaced a gigabyte ex58-ud3r with an asus p6x58d-premium due to what I thought was a sata controler issue, seems it was my ssd. Anyways I had 3x2gig of ram that worked perfectly in the ud3r but for some reason it only shows up as 4gig when the p6x58d posts and under task manager, but when I run cpu-z, it sees all 6 gigs. This is under win7 64bit.

Now I looked and the ram I have installed which is some cheap kingston value ram is not on the approved list for ram, but I'm curious about the discrepancy from task manager to cpu-z. I could just throw some money at the problem and pick up some approved ram but just thought I'd check to see if anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

It worked fine in my ud3r but it seems the p6x58d is much pickier about the ram it likes. My biggest question is why Win7 will only see 4gig's of it where cpu-z will read all 6gig's. Doesn't make sense to me.
