P6T i7 920 problems

So, I got myself a P6T yesterday. I assembled it, powered it up, booted into a liveCD, and started installing. At this point I went to sleep.

I woke up this morning to find my PC off. I hit the power button and nothing happened. I shut off the PSU for several minutes and then turned it back on. Like magic, it booted. No problems, no errors, all RAM reported.. the works.

So, from the livecd I selected "boot from first hard drive" to see if the install completed correctly. As soon as the LiveCD Screen disappeared, the system shut off.

Now whenever I hit the "on" button the PSU fan starts, and the CPU fan starts for a second before shutting off. The PSU Fan Ramains running until I shut off the power in the back. No POST beeps are given.

Any suggestions on why my P6T is misbehaving? All of the other parts (besides CPU, and memory) have been tested in another system and work fine.

Try a new PSU. Just because it works in a different system does not necessarily mean it will work now. There are some PSUs that do not behave with some motherboards.

I would make sure there is nothing shorting something on the board. Expansion slots area or somthing else touching the case directly usually causes this behaviour.

sounds like a short as thor86 says
usually when the fans turn on then the system turns off that's what it is
