New to overclocking and was trying to boost the i7 920 from 2.66 to 3.6 (w/ coolermaster V8). I've tried the settings below using AI Tweak through BIOS and the system does not boot. Then comes up with message saying load default BIOS config.

TURBO = OFF
BCLK = 200 mhz
DRAM = 1600
CPU VOLT = 1.35
CPU PLL Voltage = 1.96V
QPI/DRAM VOLT = 1.35
DRAM VOLT = 1.66V

I've also tried to use TurboV in Vista 64 and the tool freezes, then i'm forced to reboot after trying to apply the settings above.

Any idea?

Maybe try going to an intermediate step instead of directly to 3.6. e.g. Try 3.0, 3.2, 3.4 first and see how that goes.

Doesn't a BCLK of 200 give an OC of 4GHZ or higher?

Try 180 BCLK or lower.

Have you tried anything else on the board yet?

The PLL seems really high, I only need 1.84 for 3.6Ghz...BYMMV. I would reset the bios to defaults, reboot and then go back into the AI Tweaker and start slowely with the following changes only:

X.M.P=On (if your memory has one)
Multi=20
Bclk=160
VCore=1.35
PLL=1.84

This shold be overkill for 3.2 but it will start you off.

I tried this and it's working at ~3.0ghz, but it won't go above 150 BCLK without failing. I'll try lowing the PLL

TURBO = OFF
BCLK = 145
CPU VOLT = 1.35
CPU PLL Voltage = 1.96V
QPI/DRAM VOLT = 1.35
DRAM VOLT = 1.66V
