P6N SLI Platinum - Bios not allowing boot to CD?

I just built a new box and so far I like everything, however I did a quick install of Vista Ultimate to get me up and running, toy around, etc and now I want to blow away my install and start fresh.

I just tried to reinstall Vista but within the bios I was unable to force the system to boot to the DVD drive. The DVDRW (NEC) and DVD-ROM (Pioneer) drives are not options in the "boot sequence" screen.

Has anyone had this problem? I've upgraded to the most recent bios (1.1)

If you cannot see the drives in bios check your cables to make sure that the ribbon and power are securely attached. In bios when you get to the drive sequence screen highlight one and hit enter. A new window will appear showing you all the drives that the bios currently sees. If your drives don't show then you have another problem. Are the controllers enabled in bios? I just installed a p6n sli plat into my system so I've been through this already.

It shows up in the bios, I see them in the devices at boot and in the connected devices (whatever section of the bios that is called) but when I go to the screen to change the boot sequence and open up the list of options, they aren't there.

ok, i just set up my computer with the same motherboard and had the same problem. Fixed it pretty simply though.

I had 8 different boot options come up on my screen because i had a USB hub type device (my monitor - dell 24" LCD) plugged in and that gave me four different USB devices that I could boot from.

Basically I just unplugged it and then that made room for the DVD-RW that wasn't appearing in the first place. So try unplugging stuff in your computer until it comes up in the boot sequence menu.

I mean, all you really need to have plugged in when u install is the DVD/CD drive and the HDD you're installing windows to.
