So, I've been going over the specs for both my MSI P6N Diamond motherboard and the Intel Q9450 processor. MSI's web site specifically states this regarding CPU compatibility:
Notice that is says "Supports Intel 05B/05A processors" as well as a 1333MHz FSB. Now, according to Intel's tech page on the Q9450, it states the following:
Therefore, it does indicate that it is a 05A processor. Wouldn't this mean that it should work? Also, the chipset on my mobo is the NVIDIA 680i SLI. Any insight would be appreciated.
CPU
? Supports Socket 775 for Intel Core2 Quad, Core2 Extreme, Core2 Duo, Pentium 4 (Prescott, P4EE), Pentium D, Pentium XE/Celeron D processors in LGA 775 package
? Supports FSB 533/800/1066/1333* MHz (FSB 1333 requires FSB 1333 CPU and manual FSB adjustment in the BIOS)
? Supoprts Intel 05B/05A and 04B/04A processors
? Supoprts EIST techonology
? Supports Intel Hyper-Threading (HT) Technology
? Supports Intel Dual Core Technology to 1333MHz and up
Notice that is says "Supports Intel 05B/05A processors" as well as a 1333MHz FSB. Now, according to Intel's tech page on the Q9450, it states the following:
