Does anyone with this board(or any other asus deluxe boards) use the wifi-ap feature? The documents say that you can have the computer go into sleep mode and still have the wifi function. They use "sleep" very vaguely. It gives the impression that the computer turns off.

The standby button on the remote will put the computer to s3 mode sleep, making the computer appear to be off. The wifi button puts it into "sleep" mode which basically just turns off the monitor, and leaves the rest of the computer on.

Is this working how it should be? Or is my computer supposed to appear off while in wifi mode? I called asus about this and requires a call back from a tech which I havnent heard from yet.

I use the WiFi AP but not the remote. Basically just using it to receive from my wireless router at this point. To be honest I havent really heard of many people using the remote. I know the professional reviewers say its not the greatest thing to use but didnt really elaborate about it. They seemed kinda confused by it as well. I'd be curious what the ASUS tech says about it. I'm guessing since its a weekend you may not hear from them before Monday.

The motherboard supports two sleep states, S1 and S3. I don't know the exact definitions of those, but I can describe to you the behavior of my system with them.
By default, the motherboard's standby mode is S3, where the system looks completely powered down except for the blinking green power light. However, as soon as I installed the Logitech SetPoint drivers for my mouse (MX1000 for the curious), the motherboard would only go to the S1 sleep state, where the power supply is still putting out power over some rails, including at least one 12-volt rail. I know this because all my fans and lights, all of which (including CPU and GPU) are connected to the power supply instead of the motherboard, would remain on I told the system to enter Stand By mode via any method (power button, keyboard, or Windows). Manually changing the setting in BIOS (it's under the Power tab) to S3 fixed it, and the computer became quiet again.

I suspect that the computer would run in the S1 (power supply still active) mode while functioning as a WiFi access point.

That sucks, I was really hoping to use this feature. Oh well. The manual explained what s3 and s4 was and what buttons do which, but they convientely left out the state that wifi mode goes into(just says sleep) very misleading.

after I had given up, out of the blue I noticed the wifi light on the module on after I put it into sleep(s3) mode. I don't know what I did to make it stay on but it was not configured so I turned it back on and set up ap mode and then put it back into sleep(s3) did not stay on, I suspect buggy software. can anyone verify if the green wifi light on the back stays on while in suspend?
