ok just a question, i have a new P5W DH DELUXE on the way and e6700 conroe and im wondering if the onboard audio will still cause the fps to take a hit while gaming? the problem is i want to use the optical output on the mobo to go to my stereo reciver, i have an audigy 4 im using now but it doenst have toslink outs on it and im pretty sure if i disable the onboard audio to use the audigy card it will also disable the toslink audio built into the mobo, am i correct in assuming that?

being that i will have this on water with 2 x1900's in crossfire and doing some overclocking should i completly forget about onboard audio and just pick one of these up to add to my audigy 4?

I'm not thrilled with the audio so far. For some reason, PerfectDisk ran all night defragmenting my finally-reinstalled system, so I used the computer for my morning browsing while it was still going. Audio was AWFUL, broken up and noisy.

Is there a priority switch in there somewhere, to give the audio a boost over other processes? Since I'm not a gamer, I don't care what it cuts into for now...

One of the first things I did with my P5W DH was to disable onboard audio. Historically, onboard audio has been the root of countless headaches, and I'm not at all convinced that matters are much improved with today's boards. If you plan to push your system, I would counsel doing it with audio disabled. Keep in mind, though, I haven't even attempted to use the onboard audio on this board. For all I know, it's wonderful. Not more wonderful than my Audigy 2, though.
