Well, I'm finally about to take the plunge and build a Core 2 system. For as long as I can remember I've wanted the P5W DH Deluxe and initially I wanted to pair that with a Core 2 E6600 after the july price cuts. However, july came and went and there weren't any price cuts other than the introduction of the cheaper FSB1333 processors.

Apparently the P5W DH Deluxe should be able to handle (non-Penryn) FSB1333 Core 2s as of BIOS 2205. I've been a bit uncertain as to whether this is truly the case. That is, do FSB1333 C2s work properly in the P5W DH Deluxe or should I rather go for a P5E instead? I'm going to use ECC memory, so neither P965 or P35 based boards will do the trick for me.

I'm eager to hear about any hands-on experience running FSB1333 C2s on a P5W DH Deluxe, so thanks a lot in advance! :)

It should support 1333mhz processors with the latest bios. I have one for sale if you are interested. PM me for details, or look in the F/S forum.

Thanks very much for your reply. :)

I know ASUS claims support for FSB1333 (actually, they do it here), but I'd rather hear some actual success stories. I'm pretty sure it work, but is it stable?

The P5W DH Deluxe is pretty easy to get around here and it's quite cheap too. What I love about the P5W is that ECC memory support is confirmed and that there's a decent PATA controller (needed for my trusty BenQ DW1640).

The P5E *might* support ECC memory, depending on what you read over at ASUS.com, and as of the ICH8 Intel has done completely away with PATA support. What's for sure, though, is that the P5E has about a 50% markup on the P5W DH Deluxe and the X38 comes with TXT (perhaps better known as TCPA) support.

Decisions, decisions...
