This has not been fun. I purchased an Asus P5Q-E and 4gb of Corsair Dominator 8500C5D ddr2 1066 memory. I installed windows, shut down after hours of updates, next day machine wouldn't boot into windows or boot from the windows cd. Express Gate worked like a champ though. I switched memory and put in Corsair XMS DDR2 800 2 x 2gb and it made no difference.

So I got a new P5Q-E, put back in the dominator memory. I can get into express gate but windows gives me a blue screen and mentions pci.sys. I figured windows was corrupt from the last install so I tried to boot into safe mode and then tried from the cd, blue screen the same way.

I put back in the ddr2 800 and no problems. Installed windows, no bsods.

I am assuming the dominator memory is no good. I am not overclocking yet and the only bios change i made was to manually set dram voltage to 2.1 for the dominator memory.

Is there a better choice for 1066 memory? Is there some bios setting I need to manually set to get the dominator memory to work?

You should run memtest86+ on your Corsair memory. It may be faulty if your DDR2-800 works just fine.

BTW, this particular ram is killer for the price, excellent performers.: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820146731

You're right on the ball Mucker. I bought the exact same Mushkin memory. I have it going at 5-5-5-15 @ 900mhz @ 1.85v. I don't like to overclock too much so this setting is just about perfect.
