I just installed a P5Q-E. Used to run a P5K-E/WiFi with ddr2 800 5-5-5-12 memory and a Q6600.

I am still using the same processor but have upgraded the memory to 1066 5-5-5-15.

First problem, Windows only scores it 5.6 where the ddr2 800 memory scored 5.9. What have I done wrong?

Second problem, on the old board, the only overclocking I did was to up the processor from 2.4 Ghz to 3.0 ghz by increasing the FSB I think. On this maching, I can't seem to do it. The machine wont boot.

How do you oc the cpu on this?

Thanks all!!!!!

Here's what I did on my P5Q-E with Q6600:

In the bios goto AI Tweaker and put AI Tuner in manual
set the multiplier to 8
set the fsb to 425
set the strap to NB at 333
memory will be 1021 MHz
cpu will be 3412 MHz

cpu voltage set at 1.45
ram voltage at 2.00 (for my Mushkin 2 x 2 with PowerChip IC's I believe)
manually set ram to 5-5-5-15 all other settings in auto

I haven't played with the OC that much yet, just used similar settings from my Abit IP-35 Pro. I entered the values only one time and perfectly stable. I was only able to goto 3.4 on the Abit, maybe I'll hit 3.6 with this 8 phase power.

Have BIG problems now. Besides the BIOS screens and express gate, I can't boot the machine into Windows.

Last night it was running fine. I had done all the Windows updates the machine was rebooting fine.

This morning, it starts to boot into windows, I get the microsoft bar with the black screen but it locks. I tried booting from the windows disk, same thing.

I then tried to boot into safe mode, regular, command prompt, doesn't matter. The last loaded driver it displays is crcdisk.sys and then it stops. Does this sound like a drive crash? Any clue?

Ok. Bought a new hard drive, no difference. Different memory, no difference. Did a bios reflash now get message - bios data does not match the file content, at the end of the bios update and it does not verify the bios although the bios does get updated.

I am thinking dead motherboard. Any suggestions?

What BIOS did you try to flash to, the latest is 0704. Be sure to use a USB thumb drive and EZ Flash in the BIOS.

The machine is now at 0704. Also reverted back with the same problem. This morning I turned it on and the bios had lost the date and time over night. Express gate works fine though still.

Yup!

Multiple problems. RMA'd the motherboard first. Next tried to reinstall Windows.

That got me an immediate BSOD getting into windows. I removed the Corsair 1066 memory and put back my old Corsair 800 memory and I was able to install and run.

I put the 1066 memory back in and again immediate BSOD as the machine enters windows.

I returned the Corsair Detonator 1066 memory and got Mushkin 1066 memory and the machine finally works fine.

Both the original motherboard and memory were both faulty.
