My Q6600 is oc'd to 3ghz on the p5q-e. Bios vcore setting is 1.28. Memory is 2.1v. All other voltages are AUTO.

Are there any other voltages I could manually set to reduce cpu temps? I noticed cpu voltage is automatically raised when oc'd. Can I manually set other voltages so that they don't get raised?

The Q6600 with go as high as 68 in speedfan. CPU temp in probe can fgo as high as 72 when running prime 95.

Have tried Zalman 9500, Thermalright 120 ultra extreme and Xigamatek S1283 - no difference in temps.

How do I cool this down?

Hi, are you sure you are mounting the coolers correctly, are they bolt thru? I'm using bolt thru on my ACF, and getting 48c top at 3ghz. I have set my cpu volts @ 1.325 in bios, but thats the only adjustment I had to make.
I'm not sure its advisable to leave the cpu volts at auto because it gives too much volts...

Have you tried RealTemp? My Q6600 G0 @ 1.4685v @ 3600 MHz runs about 65C max in 82F ambient on P5Q-E with 0704 bios. Idles about 38C. Case is an Antec 900 with very clean airways. TR Ultra 120 with MX-2.

What kind of case are you using?

You may just have a hot cpu. I have had cpus over the years with varying temp deltas between idle and load. Te best was a 10C delta, the worst was a 30C delta. Chips from the same family can vary (wildly sometimes)

The case is a Lancool K7B. It has 2 120mm fans in the front and one in the back.

I have realtemp as well. Realtemp reads 5 degrees lower. So it topped out at 63 degrees for core 0 while speedfan was showing 68 degrees. Asus probe though was setting off alarms with a 72 degree reading for CPU.

All 3 coolers are bolt thru. I can't imagine I am doing anything wrong here. I have had them on and off with different thermal compounds as well. I would hope at least one of the times I would have gotten it ok!

I got the P5Q-E and have a Q6600. My temps are too quite hot running near 80C at 3.4 GHz and 1.4250V with loadline enabled when running Prime95. THis is with a Thermalright Ultra 120.

If you just want to monitor temps and some voltages, try CPUID's HWMonitor. Speedfan is a decent program but its far too bloated imo and the CPU temps aren't accurate on some boards.

The Q6600 does run hot though on this board, I think it has to do with low Vdroop so the chip is actually getting very close to the set Vcore. Settings like PLL Voltage may also increase temps somewhat, but again I think its because they help the board deliver more accurate voltages to the CPU.

There's a pretty huge delta in temps once you cross the 1.350V or 3.5GHz thresholds. Egale what kind of airflow do you have in your case? Those temps do seem a bit high for 3GHz, but its hard to say if those readings are accurate if you used SpeedFan.

The case has 3 120mm fans, 2 in the front 1 in the back. I also used realtemp for temps and that reads 5 degrees lower. Coretemp shows the same temps as speedfan.

I also tried lowering cpu voltage in the bios this weekend to 1.2. This lowered the temps a bit. I ran P95 for 1 1/2 hours ok but this morning I got a BSOD while running it for 5 minutes and then trying to do something else.

The fans I am using are Noctua NF-S12-1200s. Maybe using a more powerful fan in the back might improve airflow?

Here is an update to the heat problem.

Last night I replaced the Noctua NF-S12-1200 in the back with an SFLEX SFF21F. Temps immediately went down. Now idling at 32 (real temp)/37 (coretemp). I ran P95 for an hour and the highest the temps got were 54 (rt)/ 59(ct). So it looks like replacing 1 fan got me about 5 degrees. I would replace the input fans as well but that will require taking the whole case apart. The rear fan was easy.
