P5Q-E killing fan sensor?

This is weird. I have a P5Q-E and it has killed the sensor in two fans now. This is the case fan at the pack of the case. First one was an S-Flex. After a week or two it's fan speed stopped being picked up in the bios and of course any sensor display program. I replaced it with a fan that I had in my spare parts box. This is a no name fan. The bios started picking up this fan. Now a week or two later, this fan is not being picked up in the bios.

Both fans continued to spin but couldn't be picked up in the bios.

Do you think the motherboard is killing the fan somehow? I can't keep replacing fans every week.

This is P5Q-E #2. No 1 was DOA. This one eats fans. I think it is time to move on.

Can I assume the other P5Qs in the series will have similar issues?

What brand of board is going to give me the lease amount of trouble, is well supported, and runs well? Should I bite the bullet and move up to an x38 or x48 board?

I could be a pin from the wire that reports back fan speed. Try checking in your bios. If it reports back the fan speed in the bios, then maybe its your application in windows that is bugged.

Bios doesn't see the fan. Replacing the fan with a new one solves the problem for a couple of weeks. It looks like the motherboard is burning out the sensor as the fan continues to spin.
