Hi guys,
My new p5q-e doesnt post,
my parts are:

  • P5q-e with bios v1103(updated)
    GSKILL 8500 2x2gb kit
sapphire 4850 512mb (the overclocked version)
    intel dual core 8400

ok, lets start from the begining,
each time i shut down my system, it wont boot, by that i mean all the fans will spin and hd will be activated, but no "beep" and no video output etc..

but when i unplug it from the power, remove one memory, turn it on, it will boot,
then, if i turn it off and add the second stick(in dual channel) it will boot and will be fine(passes windows memory tests, games, hours and hours of working with vista etc..)

what i've tried so far:
setting the timing manualy to 5-5-5-15
setting the memory to run at ddr2-1066 manually
setting DRAM voltage to be 2.1 instead of auto
setting NB voltage to 1.4 instead of auto

with no success..

what the hell??

please help!
its such a nightmare to open the case each time i turn the comp on..
(sorry for the misspelled english)

Welcome!

If you shutdown and turn off the PSU for awhile (without removing RAM) will it boot then?

Dual Channel, are you using slots 1 & 3 (or 2 & 4)?
1 & 2, 2 & 3, or 3 & 4 may cause issues.

Hi, I have the same motherboard that you have. In the bios go to advanced and enter. Enter into the north bridge config. Memory remap feature should only be enabled when you have a 64-bit operating system. Waiting for my "compatible memory" that will cold boot without BSOD mem dump.
