All of a sudden, the computer will give the normal beep then freeze at the initial BIOS screen.
I cannot get into the BIOS.

I have removed all RAM, powered on with the appropriate beeps.
Put each memory stick in separately into each slot. Problem the same.
Used eraser on memory, no luck

Took it apart & put it back together, still the same.
Temps are normal

I first noticed that the programs were getting non-responsive.
Went to restart & not able to even get into BIOS.

Removed all externals, same issue.

Asus P5N-E SLI
QuadCore Intel Core 2 Qaud Q6600, 2400 MHZ (9 x 267)
CPU FAN ZALMAN|CNPS950
nVidia nForce 650i SLI
4 sticks Ballistix 1066MHZ
Crucial has me set to 6-6-6-18 2.013volts
BIOS award version 13.04
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (256MB) PCI Express
No overclocking
Maxtor STM3500630AS (465 GB) SATA
Sony DVD RW DRU-840A IDE
Anantec 500 W power supply in Sonata III Mini Tower
Windows XP Pro/SP3; Windows 7 Beta; Windows Vista Ultimate; Linux
Hot swapable drives fro some of these OSs.
Windows 7 for primary SATA boot drive.

I had replacement memory sent by Crucial about 3 months ago, 1 was bad.
They replaced all four with this newer type that used lower voltage.

Has been working perfectly until today
Will try a PCI video card to see if that helps.
Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanx

I cleared the CMOS and now I do not even see the BIOS post screen & the delete key does not take me into the BIOS.
I still get the initial correct beep.
I removed the fan & redid all the thermal paste as per instructions as well.
I tried another stick of memory.
Still no luck with it.

Ok, Here we go

Previously, I tried a USB keyboard to replace the remote battery operated keyboard.
That did not work either.
I noticed that the battery op kybrd did not light up on boot.
I got a hardwire ps2 kybrd & bingo, it worked.
Replaced the batteries in the kybrd & running fine.

It' always the stupid stuff that gets U.

I have set the BIOS back up & it runs puuuurfectly.

I always appreciate the help here and hope that somebody else can learn from such a silly mistake.

no matter how many years of practice on puters, there is always something to be learned.

Thanx again

I turns out that this was not the problem.

After letting everything sit over night & restarting, same issue.

I get the normal beep but nothing else happens.

I used the computer all day yesterday, restarting, shutting down with zero problems.

This am, first thing, will not boot past the screen saying main processor:
