My P5N-E SLI 650i Board and E8400 are due to be delivered today. Has anyone successfully gotten the E8400 to run on the P5N-E SLI 650i Board? Just wondering if I am facing any problems when I start my build.

I've heard that even with the updated BIOS it has its share of problems with the 45nm CPUs... how's it working for you?

It's working great. It as stable as a rock. I originally was going to use four slots for RAM but could never get it stable. I finally decided to go with just 2 sticks and it has been stable ever since. There is a newer BIOS (0901) out but since everything is stable, I think I will wait and see what other users experience before I update. I subscribe to the theory that if it ain't broke don't fix it. Sometime when I have some free time on my hands, I may update the BIOS and try 4 sticks again.

I have the same motherboard and processor but am not able to get them to work together. Would you mind posting you BIOS settings?

When I booted the first time it said something like "UNKNOWN CPU....PLEASE UPDATE TO THE NEWEST BIOS TO UNLEASH THE FULL POWER OF THE CPU". I updated the Bios to 803 and the message went away. I wanted to run stock so I changed very few settings. Here's what I did:

1) Set AI tuning to Manual
2) Set Memory timings to 4-4-4-12-2T
3) Set Memory Voltage to 2.178

It never failed to boot with those settings but it wasn't stable when tested with Memtest86. I tried various Memory Voltage and NB Voltage settings but just couldn't get it stable. The last thing I did was set the FSB-Memory Clock to Linked and then I was able to get it stable according to Memtest86. I ran test number 5 five times without any errors and two complete tests without any errors.

CPU-Z 1.43 reports the following:
Core Voltage 1.344v
Core Speed 3000.3 MHz
Multiplier x9
Bus Speed 333.4 MHz
Rated FSB 1333.5 Mhz
Dual Channel
DRAM Frequency 400.0 MHz
FSB : DRAM 5:6

after i flashed my bios to 0803 the board no longer plays nice with my memory, even with just 1 stick in it was horribly unstable. i've gone with the p5n-d instead and still need to figure out what to do with the p5n-e sli.
