P5K, P5N, P5b...? differences?

I am shopping for a motherboard for E6600.
There are so many available I don't know what to get.

-Not sure when DDR3 will take off.... worth getting it with DDR3 capability?

-DDR2 1066 is something to consider I guess even though I'll be using 800.

-Nice to have a good sound card in it, so I don't have to buy a separate one.... or is it better to buy a separate one

-Also, LAN will be nice, same as above, so I don't have to buy one

-ASUS's noise cancellation feature work?

the differences are all based around the fact that they use different chipsets (P5K=P35, P5N=nvidia 650i, P5B=P965).
Without some more info as to your intended use & budget it's impossible to give an informed suggestion.

I want it to last a long time.
Current one I am using is P4 1.3Ghz from early 2001

It does the job but can't play any decent game and little slow for photoshop with high resolution images.
So, I'll be using it for some graphics, gaming, and possibly multimedia when I hook up the cable in my room.


Possible videocard, I am thinking x1950xt but I am open to anything right now.

Why not get a p35, future proof yourself. As for video card, I personally like the 8800gts 640mb just cuz its only about 30-40 dollars more expensive than the 320mb

8800 GTS is way out of my budget. I am looking for low mid $200 videocard

Can someone direct me to a link where they explain P5k,L,N,B,G,W..etc
I am not educated enough to know the difference b/w P35, Nvidia 650i, p965.... never heard of them before

Click the chipsets tab at the top of the anandtech homepage and you'll have plenty to read up on =)

P35 is currently the newest on the scene (also with support for intels upcoming 45nm cpu's)
