Doing a first time build and I'm not sure if im just timid or not.
The Nirvana seems to fit the Mobo fine as far as clearances go. Where my concern is has to do with the mounting bracket. I haven's screwed it on, but when I place it on the mobo, it seems like it hits the capacitors while the stops dont reach the base of the mobo.

Has anyone installed this cooler on the P5K or had a similar situation while mounting a cooler?

Thanks in advance. I can snap some pics of the situation if needed.

And you installed it like this with the X shaped piece on the backside of the motherboard and the socket adapter screwed to the HSF? With the design of that adapter it should be next to impossible to hit the caps next to the socket.

Thanks Derwen, in looking at the pics in the link you posted I should be fine. I had just placed the cooler side bracket on the motherboard to check clearances.
The contact between the CPU and the cooler looks like it will keep the bracket from making contact and the springs will allow the screws to reach down to the backing plate.

I will mount the bracket to the cooler and put the chip in place and check clearances before i screw anything together.

That is your best bet. It looks like when you screw the bracket to the HSF the base will protrude lower than the bracket and keep anything from contacting. I actually quite like the mounting system they provide you.

Mounted the HSF with no issues with contact.

Got everything put together and hooked up. Powered it up and got the single beep and the Bios menu. I just need to figure out how to go from there.
