Board is running great so far, no real problems under Vista 64. Except for 1 odd problem. Using the onboard sound, everything is fine. If I install my CreativeLabs X-FI extreme gamer sound card I get static. I have done the following:
- in bios disabled onboard sound
- downloaded and installed latest CL drives for Vista64.
- Tried 2 different PCI slots
When I first installed the card, it sounded great. Cystal clear and I had both rear speakers and front headphones/mic working. Then about 2 days later all I got was Static through my speakers and nothing on the front headphones. I played around with it, then decided the card might have gone bad. I did an RMA. I have the new card. Same problem, when I put it all I get is alot of bad static through my speakers and nothing on front. If I use the onboard sound, everything sounds ok.
Is it possible their is something wrong with the PCI slots? Or could it be just bad sound cards? Vista actually reports everything is functioning correctly with the sound card. However, only static.
getting stumped here....
thx
