I have a 160G SATA disk on the SATA1 port configured in the bios of my P5GDC-V as AHCI. The other drives on the board are connected as follows:

Pri IDE - DVD writer
ITE Pri IDE - 2 x 60G disks as Master / Slave
ITE Sec IDE - 1 x 80G disk

When I initially set it up, I kept getting BSOD's (0x000007b) during Windows setup (after the F6 option with the Sata driver on a floppy) with the Sata Bios setting of Standard IDE and the disk on Sata1 and the DVD on the ITE Pri IDE. When I changed the Sata config in the Bios to AHCI and at the same time moved the DVD to the Intel Pri IDE, Windows completed setup. Windows couldn't find the other drives on the ITE controller until after it installed and I installed the ITE driver.

Now in device manager I've found an ! unknown device which has properties of "82801fb lpc interface controller 2640". I've installed the latest intel inf files and I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the AHCI bios settings for SATA.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has a similar setup and had any such unknown devices.

Also why does Asus supply an option on the install CD to make an F6 floppy for the ITE driver but not for the intel SATA driver?
