Does anyone know off hand if the PNY Optima 667mhz memory, such as that available at Compusa runs okay in the P5B?

I ask because I'd ordered some OCZ Gold (parts arriving today), and from what I've been reading, I'll at least need some 1.8-9v ram to get things running.

Also, am I going to need another processor to get things running right away, then update the bios, then install Core2?

Or can I update the bios with usb memory with Core2 installed?

I'm currently running the PNY Optima in my P5B because one of my Corsair sticks is bad. It does work. However, I had downgraded to bios 706 while trying to figure out the cause of instability in my system, and the PNY wouldn't work until I flashed to 711, the latest bios.

You don't need another processor to get things running. I booted the first time with a 6300 no problem. I believe those issues only apply to 975x boards, not P965 (which the P5B is).

You can update the bios using usb flash memory, but I believe it has to be formatted in FAT32, not NTFS. I haven't done this, however, so perhaps someone else can verify.
