Hello All,

Components in the title makeup my first ever Intel build. I had to manually set the memory to its listed 1.9v and 5-5-5-12 timings in the BIOS. When I ran the orthos program suggested in the sticky it the first time, it failed in less than 30 seconds. I ran it again later and in failed in under 5 minutes. Should I try memtest next or is something already seriously hosed?

Also, (I am a total noob when it comes to memory speed) CPU-z reports my PC2 6400 memory as having a speed of 400mhz. Is this right, I thought it should be 800mhz?

Thank You!

Are you runnig 267 FSB default - if so it should not give you errors since in spec. Maybe try increasing RAM voltage to 2.0 and see what happens. Some have tried 5 5 5 15 as some Corsair are not as advertised

Well, I can tell you that I am using Corsair XMS2 6400C4 and the memory is designed to run at 2.1v. I would guess you need to bump up voltage to 2.0v or 2.1v. I have the exact same mobo with latest BIOS and an E6700. I am Orthos stable for 24hrs.

Thanks for the responses. I actually don't have the C4 version of the memory, and only have the 5-5-5-15 timings memory ( I was wrong earlier). Here is the exact memory I purchased:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145590

I have tried several different settings and have been running memtest. Every time I have gotten errors. I have my bus speed set to 266, should this be 267?

Also, every error in memtest has been memory in the 700s and 1700s. Could it just be bad ram?

Thanks!

Yet another thread with Corsair issues...

And yet i still see ppl recommending this crap in every second thread

Post some CPU-Z screenies of your settings for CPU/Mainboard/Memory tabs if you don't mind.

N7 is right. I had those sticks and could not get orthos to run stable! Went to Team Group and now all is good. This is what I have now - Team group
