hi
i have been experiencing some strange temp readings and decided to try to flash to the latest bios...i had been on v1202 and i updated to 1601
my comp will not boot on 1601...i can enter the bios and change settings but after exiting bios i only get stuck on a black screen
like a good boy i saved my old bios file on a usb drive, so rebooted and i went into the ezflash utility...it sees my usb drive and it sees the 1202 file, but when i select it i get a message that says something like "rom file version is older than motherboard" and it will not let me flash back to 1202. if i hit any button when that message is showing it just goes back to the ezflash menu...
i have tried rebooting and setting all bios to default settings (f5) but no help

can anyone help me out?

thanks

EDIT i just tried to boot again and i get a message on the black screen that says

"NTLDR is missing", so i went back into bios and somehow my C/D drive was no longer on the boot list. i fixed that, now i am back to the black screen

update for some poor soul who finds this post after having the same problem...

well i downloaded and tried every single bios version for the p5b-e. all of them were rejected by ezflash utility as being too old except for v1601 and v1501. i settled on 1501 but still could not get the computer to boot windows...
i ended up having to boot to my external drive, on which i had placed my acronis true image backup image of my two dual boot partitions. i had to wipe my os partiton clean and restore with acronis...
now i am functional under bios version 1501, but i would be at a total loss if not for the acronis application. as an aside the acronis bootable cd would not work either; only setting my external drive as 1st option in the boot order would do it...

i will never try to update bios again unless the fate of the planet is in the balance or there is a gun to my head...
