Ever since the timeframe of changing over from the Beta build 7000 to the RC1 build 7100, my computer with Windows 7 build 7100 began displaying frequent pauses, especially when I use frequent clicks with programs or just plain ol surfing with Opera. It is not third party program limited as even in Explorer or Windows Media Player it causes these pauses.

Under my bios, when I tried swaping memory sticks around with a single channel mode (both Channel A and B single mode) the BIOS boot recognizes the full memory stick correctly. However, when I place both sticks in the dual channel mode (I have a pair of 2048MB and 1024MB sticks) if I put in the 2GB pair, only 3008MB gets recognized and that is VERY odd.

Loading the full loadout, It recognizes 5008MB. That is not right. I have 6GB damnit!

What should I do? And by Windows 7 pauses, I mean the programs frequently act as if they are not responding for a good 5 to 10 minutes before acting normal again. It happens in ANY program I use and including the OS itself.

I suggest you dump windows 7 for now. You may have a software issue that is difficult to pinpoint. I have an issue with adobe reader causing explorer 8 to close, but I don't use reader very often, so it's a minor nuisance. Only other suggestion is to look at any bios updates for your board, and see if they address any software issues. I just started using xp virtualization, and would like to continue, but the full version of 7 ultra will be $319, too rich for me.

I have updated my BIOS to 1101, the latest non-beta version. I switched memory remap on and it detected my full memory capacity but why did it suddenly switch it back off or suddenly not detect it without my intervention in the settings? Perhaps the BIOS resetted? but I can't remember when I did such a thing.

Windows is still being a bitch though.

So now Win7 is seeing the full 6GB?

Memory remap is supposed to "always" be enabled if you have 4GB or more. I do think however, that some BIOS versions paid more or less attention to that setting. Or maybe Win7 paid more attention to the memory settings. hard to say. But that remap "should" be on.

Are you still having the pause/freeze?

I am still having pauses and temporary program freezes. Of which the performance monitor would go back down to zero or close to zero CPU usage then when the pauses stop, the usage resumes as normal.

This did not happen under the Beta may I add. There is no blue screens or any other errors. Just program unresponsiveness and Windows Explorer unresponsiveness pauses.
