Looking at a build around this MB and an e6600. Do not plan to OC as this will be a workstation and I don't won't the stability risk. What memory is recommend for a 2 gig config or a 4 gig?

Can't go wrong with Corsair. Corsair & Asus are like peanut butter and jelly - check out their website and use the memory configurator. Matches RAM to mobo and even provides links to ZipZoomFly and other retailers to purchase. I'd imagine since you're not overclocking, most 5-5-5-15 ram should suffice.

However, if I wasn't overclocking, I don't know that I'd spend the extra $50 - $70 for the deluxe version of this mobo. Alternatively, you could go with the Gigabyte DS3 for the nearly the same $$ as the P5B vanilla and still have a nice OC board if you wanted to play around some day down the line.

Thanks for the input. I am going with the P5B deluxe because of the stability and there are several features that I like for the build. I would prefer to have something like the 680i boards but, I am not as sure of their stability.

Is cas 4 or 5 going to make a difference if I am not OCing?

Most good RAM (and certainly Corsair XMS qualifies) will run at CAS 4 at stock 266 FSB with no issues whatsoever, so buying CAS 4 isn't worth the extra $30 - $50 cost in my view if you're not doing any overclocking.
