P5B deluxe memory slots

I am building a P5B deluxe box. I know this is a simple question but I heard both answers. To run duel channel memory, does the memory go in the first two slots or slots 1 and 3?

For the un-informed or just noobs.
One could read the mobo manual and get a whole bunch of super info.
ASUS mobos have memory slots are colored, slots 1 & 3 are yellow, slots 2 & 4 are black.
