P55 socket question...

how can you tell if a board is using a Foxconn or a LOTES/Tyco socket? been googling for an hour and could not find anything on it...

I got an MSI P55-GD80 board and would like to verify if which socket this board has... spoke with MSI support and so far they cannot tell... 😱

by looking at the CPU it looks like all of the pads made contact though, but can't tell for sure... :$

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the reply guys... well I took a look at my mobo, says LOTES on the socket... *whew* :awe:

I wouldn't worry about it much.

It's ridiculously over-hyped as a big issue, when in fact, for normal users, it is entirely a non-issue.

yeah... but still better to be on the safe side ryt? 🙄 and I am planning to OC this machine as soon as I am done building my case hehehe

If you are really worried about it get an EVGA board. None of them use Foxconn sockets.

unfortunately not... some models (for example P55 FTW or P55 SLI) could have a foxconn sockets. When you searching information about it on google you can found some users which bought this mobos and recieved them with foxconn socket...
