Looking to build a SLI rig this weekend and the motherboard choice is killing me.

I'm still very torn on if the X58 and i7 is worth the extra cash or not.

please recommend me a good P55 SLI board to possibly use with an i5 760

and a counterpart on the X58 chipset as well.

I am not interested in single card solutions or crossfire at all.

thanks

i'm having very good luck with the asrock x58 extreme, if you are looking for budget boards... it's been a great performer for me with a 930 and patriot 1600 memory... i also have a biostar t5 xe cfx-sli running nicely with 2 460's and an i7 860 (fry's combo)...

i'm a frugal kind of guy... but these two boards have worked well for me...

Sticking with Gigabyte you have the GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD4P at $185 before rebate.

It supports SLI at 1x16 and 1x8 PCI-E 2.0 speeds.

If you really want to push 2 x GTX 480 in SLI then you probably want one of the P55 boards which have the NF200 chip with additional PCI-E lanes.

You can choose between the ASUS P7P55 WS Supercomputer @ $190 before rebate and the EVGA P55 FTW 200 SLI @ $260 before rebate.

However, its debatable if buying a P55 mb for this amount of money is worth it when you can get an x58 mb with more PCI-E lanes and triple channel DDR3 for cheaper.

There are others as well, such as the EVGA P55 Classified 200 SLI @ $310 before rebate.

These boards will support 2 X 16 PCI-E 2.0 SLI and even triple SLI if you want to add a PhysX card or a third GTX 480 although I see some people complaining there isn't enough room for 3 cards the size of GTX 480's.

went with the i7 920 got it for free..
bought a Asus X58 Sabertooth
seems very nice but man that second PCIE slot is CLOSE on the 460.. I dunno I'f I'll be able to get the second card in there even with the EVGA EE design.
