I had a change of mind and want to go for a big tv instead of a smaller one but I do not know enough about plasmas to make a final decision. I want to purchase from Amazon for the free shipping and no tax and I am looking at these Panasonics.

P50G25 - $930
P54G25 - $1400
P50VT25 - $1949
P54VT25 - $2182

I am curious why the VT25s are so much more expensive. I have been reading this forum and saw something about them being 96Hz but I don't know what this means. Would the picture quality be different? I do not watch much cable television so it would be mostly for DVDs, PS3, Xbox, Blu-Ray. I am willing to spend the money if there is a noticeable difference between the two but if the difference is minor and something enthusiasts notice then I would rather save $1000.

Well I don't care for 3D at all. I saw the dispaly at BestBuy and thought it just didn't look right for some reason. My main desire is for games and movies to look great and also for smooth movement which I've seen some TVs are quite choppy.

There is quite the difference between the 2. The VT has better color accuracy, better gray-scale and black levels, can accurately reproduce 24p video without any pulldown, less likely to get burn-in because of faster phosphorus, can actually do 3D really well, and black levels fade less over time compared to the G models.

The VT is the best plasma (possible best tv in 2010) on the market atm, if you can afford it, buy it. Watching the tvs at BB is not a fair comparison for any tv as they dont give any of them a proper video feed. Plasmas arent the greatest for games though, they can get burn-in, it is much less likely but still possible with video games. If your going to be playing games on it, Id suggest an LED. One more thing, the G models arent the greatest at reproducing non HD content, I have one and it looks like crap when watching non HD stuff, but the VT is suppose to be much better.

I was completely mistaken in the TV models I listed. I meant the GT25 series not the G. I ended up purchasing the P50GT25 from Amazon as I am sure it will be more than I need. If I happen to not like it then I can at least send it back and try again. Hoping the GT25 is not inferior to the G in any ways.
