Hi

I want to upgrade my Computer (P3 800Mhz 384Meg PC133)

My choise of the cpu is done. I will take P4 2.26Ghz that got a nice performance/price value. (i dont like amd anyway)

But my big problem is the Mainboard. For sure I want an Asus motherboard but i'm confuse.

P4B533-V + 512 DDR PC2700 (333Mhz)
P4T533-C + 512 Rambus PC800
P4T533-C + 256 Rambus PC1066

There is a price range of 100$Can on those 3 configuration....

The price i have in Canadian Dollar is :

256 PC800: 130$
256 PC1066: 230$

so it's quite expensive ! I think PC1066 cost way too much for the extra 5%. (and the extra 256meg will make it like the same or so)

Now :

1) PC2700 or PC800 (40$ difference) ????
2) P4B533-V or P4T533-C (10$ difference) ??

Witch config would be the best if I want to keep my computer for 2 year (upgrading CPU but keep the motherboard)

Thanks again for your help

I'd recommend going DDR all the way! Also, the P4B533-V has many features that are lacking on the P4T533-C if memory serves me correctly: USB 2.0, onboard lan, 5.1 sound (also on the other one I believe, etc)..

A cheaper motherboard that may be better for you is the P4B533-C (not as many features but cheaper than the -V version). Don't get PC1066 memory - it's way too expensive at that price! Get 512MB of DDR 266 or 333 MHz memory.
