I have a wierd problem with my P4T-e. I'm overclocking my p4 1.8@2.4 (133 fsb) and i cant seem to use any functions of my network card.. including going online. I've overclocked my 1.8@2.4 before using a p4b266 and it worked fine... anyone know what could be the problem?

Its a long shot, but make sure your pci divider is at 4 instead of 3. I would think that other cards besides your nic would give you problems at over a 40mhz bus.

I've heard that the NIC is usually the first card to go with an out of spec PCI bus speed.

The only way to get the /4 multiplier is to use the dipswitches and set 133mhz fsb...

to make it easy on you, here is the dipswitch settings.

switch 6 7 8 9 10
off on on on off

or on off on on off

only a minuscule difference between the two.

You cannot set the dividers in the bios. Also, to get 133mhz, you may have to volt mod your cpu because the dip-switches do not allow voltage selction on the processor.

Hope this helps.

My nic was the first to go on my th7-II raid. It would play out at anything above 125fsb. Luckily the th7-II has adjustable dividers in the bios.

edit - also, have you checked the memory clock chips on that p4t-3? It sounds more like a divider problem, but lesser quality memory clock chips could also be causing the problems.

Why did you move away from a p4b266 when you had a perfectly stable 2.4ghz Overclock ?

I am just curious, not giving you sh!t for switching.;)

well i have samsung 8 device memory.. so im pretty sure thats not the problem... the only reason why i got a p4t-e from a p4b266-c was because i tried the wire trick and i messed up my cpu and motherboard... I rma'd it to newegg and they messed up and sent me a p4t-e instead.. but i decided to keep the p4te. I'm glad i did because the p4te is faster overall even at a lower clock speed

I wasn't talking about the ram, but the memory clock generators on the motherboard. On the Th7-II they are two small chips between the first rimm slot and the cpu. Mine start with ics, but the poor overclocking chips start with cyp(i believe). If you have the ics chips, you can pretty much disgard anything I have said about the memory clock chips not letting you hit 133fsb. If you have cyp's, that could be the problem.

Just for reference, I have samsung 16device 256meg rimms on my board. I can't hit 533 (4x133) with my ram, I have to run it at a multiplier of 3. I can boot into windows with the ram at 1066 speeds, the computer is just unstable. It still does not sound like a memory issue though. It would affect more than just your internet.

hi.. sorry.. yea i got the cyp clock generator... but i have the ram set at 3X (3*133 = 399, which is still in spec). The computer is stable as i 've ran prime95 and 3dmark for several hours. THe only problem i have with overclocking is that my network card doesnt work...

Since you are running memory at 3X then I don't see why you don't run the board in jumper mode at a 133 fsb. That way you don't have to worry about the nic anymore as the pci bus and agp bus will be in spec. You won't need any extra voltage at that speed anyway.
