Both on this board and on the asusboards, I've seen so many problems of various kinds reported for the Asus P4S8X motherboard, even running at stock speeds with DDR333.

How many of you out there can actually recommend this board? Assume that overclocking is not a requirement.

Well I selected "recommend" since I have one and it's working great. Search for my posts for a full listing of my setup. But, given the reports of problems, you would obviously be risking getting a board that either is inherently defective or simply won't work with certain components. So then it becomes a question of whether you trust Asus to fix things with a Bios update (or perhaps switch out a bad board with a later revision).

Who knows? All I know is I've got mine working rock stable at 149FSB and 185 Memory frequency, giving me great performance and image quality in the UT 2003 demo and anything else I've run.

I had one and it was rock solid running at the 166mhz. ddr setting. However, since I had ddr400, that's what I wanted to run at. The Gigabyte will, the Asus didn't.
