p4p800 sata hard drives non raid - possible?

my eyes are getting tired reading through the pages of the p4p800 thread so thought i would make a new post for this question..

i want to buy 2 sata hardrives and dont really want to raid them right away so need to know if they can use the sata without raid on this board (p4p800 - non deluxe)? the manuel says sata raid and doesnt make it clear wether you can use it without using raid.

any help would be appreciated,

Yes, according to ASUS page, it has the Intel ICH5R southbridge, so should work just like the Deluxe version I have. I'm running 2 SATA drives in a raid0 array, but I seem to remember you can choose to run no array in the configuration utility. There are bios options to set the SATA controller to bootable, but if you do I think you have to use the configuration utility. There are several threads involving this setup at www.abxzone.com
