Hi. I'm thinking about building a watercooled rig around this board, and want to have the fan on the radiator speed controlled for noise. I know this will be quieter than a traditional CPU fan, but since I intend to overclock my 2.6 P4 significantly, I'd like to use the Q-fan feature to keep the fan speed at a quieter level until the temp gets high enough, then run the 120 mm fan at full speed. This way I can use a really high volume fan but still have peace and quiet unless I'm pushing the system.
The problem is that (according to the manual) it looks like the P4P800's Q-fan feature allows you to set how fast the fan goes when the temp is low, but doesn't let you set the trigger temperature for increasing the speed to 100%. I figure they picked the temp for an aircooled system, and that I might want to use a different temp. for water cooling.
The other board I was thinking of using is the Abit IS7-G, which does exactly what I want, but may not support the socket 478 Prescott's the way the P4P800 is supposed to.
Can someone with a P4P800 running the most recent BIOS verify this? My old A7V333 didn't have much flexibility in it's Q-fan config when it first came out, but this was added in later BIOS releases.
