on the first partition i tryed to install windows xp

the first attempt to install it failed becouse it hung during windows xp installation

now in windows xp i get blue error screens when i try to install programs like service pack 2 for xp

allso after the error i have to reset the pc...but after pushing the reset button.....the hdd led flashes 5 times slowly, and the hdd dissapeart in the bios.

shutting the pc down by pressing the powerbutton and turn the power on again makes the hdd appear back in the bios..and windows loads again.

i tryed to replace the data cable with a new 1 but no effect

You did set Motherboard bios for SATA, right?

Main> Ide Configuration> SATA -or- PATA -or- Both

I did have a problem with a SATA drive when using a cheap power supply some time ago. 500 watts is NOT too big. 350w is marginal IMHO.

Other than that, Sorry don't have a clue.

Got the latest motherboard bios?

Go to the ABXZone.com forums.

Here's a search for 'p4p800 known issues':
