Thugsrook, I know OCZ has had bad memory in the past (my buddy bought some) I really don't think the problem is with the memory in this case. Every review I have read about it says this stuff is the real deal.

maybe the review places were given "the real deal"...but to some unlucky customers they continue to give crap?
just speculating...

does this have heatspreaders on it?
... are there any programs out there for ddr that tell you what ns the ram chips were ?
i know there was a similar one for sdram....but have yet to find one for ddr

that is, of course, unless you dont mind ripping off heatspreaders and seeing waht ns they are? (it does have heatspreaders right?)

ketchup, also read this

Quote:
"alright.
at 166FSB 3:4 222MHZ
Memtest results were horrid.
Test3 i had 945 errors, test 2 like 416, test 1 0errors"

"i did 163 3:4 218
2-6-3-3 (spd)
errors out the anus
At 166 1:1 166Mhz i had 0 errors through test 5, then i esc'd"

"i put it at 217fsb 1:1 217Mhz
2-7-3-3
errors out the anus "

With those statements, I'd definitely say it's a memory problem. One thing I would suggest is putting the FSB at say 150mhz, that way the ram will be at DDR400(200mhz) and see if it passes MemTest86 at agressive timings. If it doesn't, looks like it's time for him to get an RMA. Also, the OCZ could be doing the very same things they've done in the past: send out amazing RAM sticks taht will hit ludicrous speed, and then continue to sell retail crap.

Fumbduck, if you do RMA it, go through your retailer and get a new chip, not OCZ themselves. I'd like to see what another stick of retail PC3500 does opposed to something OCZ is probably gonna hand pick for you.

sounds like a plan, im kind of interested myself.

however people are saying that when they RMAed their pc3500 stick, OCZ sent them a PC3700 stick with the same ratings. so :-?

i'll trying flashing my bios to. if i get new ram and new bios and still problems, RMA board for sure.

Well then, you're obviously going to get a good stick of RAM if you RMA it to them. So if I were you then, I guess I'd take the hand-picked 3700 :D

Dang... I sold him the chip and I didn't know he was having this much problem...

From reading the all the posts, I too think it's the memory problem... I ran this chip flawlessly @195 with 1.5v actual voltage... Couldn't go any higher due to my defective XMS... I would try to grab another stick of ram and try it out... Of course, memtest it first... ;)

called "Bo Chen" at OCZ. Really nice guy, we talked for a bit and he told me to email him with all my information and he would send me a new stick. I dont think he said i had to send back my old one.

Hehe... you will have to send it back. He'll get your info, then he will tell you to send your stick to him for testing and he will send you a new one. My new ones came sealed just like retail, so I do not know if I could call them "handpicked" or not.

we cant really do much else for ya FD.

overclocking is like a science experiment ~ you need to be consistant and methodicle.

run m86 (hit C-2-3-1-2-0-space bar) @ 133fsb and go for a single loop~
if it passes bump to 140fsb ...145fsb ...150fsb, etc

LUK where it cr@ps out exactly
do not bother to use more then 1.575v vcore
may as well start with 2.7v vdimm

HTH :)
