I have the P4m SL6xx 1.7 C1 Stepping chip, the same chip that Erik had.
I have an Abit IT7 - Max2 V.2
1x 512MB PC3500 OCZ Cas 2-2-5-2
Alpha PAL 8942 with 50CFM 80MM and AS3.
Antec TruePower 430

Right now I am running at 164fsb 3:4 ratio, i cant get much higher.

When i first got the chip, i tried 180 at 1:1, and it would boot 1/3 times.
More recently, i upped my voltages to the max. 1.775 cpu and 2.8 ram, windows loads at 210, but freezes immediately, and at 220 it freezes shortly after the windows XP loading screen.

Any ideas what the problems might be? I am thinking i should RMA my motherboard, but i doubt that is the problem.

Please post all questions/comments/criticism/help

i dont think so. crap.

prime95 is failing like mad at higher FSBs. I have it at 166fsb and its running fine now. but at 217 it wasn't.

m86 does have a iso for bootable cds....

lower your mem to cas2.5-3-3-7 and use 2.7v.
make your agp voltage 1.6v.

disable onboard usb, audio, printer/serial ports, and anything else you aint using.

what kind of psu are you using?

antec true power.

my memory is rated to run at DDR434 (217) at Cas 2-2-5-2, why should i sacrifice timings?

have you verified that it can actually run those specs?

How old is the board? Has there been a newer bios revision? My experience with OCZ EL 3500 is. . .well, it didn't even post! Try other mem, IMHO. Also, what other devices do you have running? Try running a bare-bones/conservatively-timed setup to see if she'll run. Remember also that 200+ fsb speeds are waaaaay beyond spec and that not all mobos will do be running that extra mile for ya

. Hope that helps, feel free to PM me (or THUGSROOK:p) if you have any questions.

Thanks for volunteering, THUGS:D:p:D!

It is OCZ ram, so I would suggest running Memtest86 at say 180 at 2-2-5-2, see if it passes 10 loops of it, like Thugs recommended. If it doesn't pass, return it because they sent you faulty ram.

i've had my IT7-max2 v2 for about a month. Abit themselves claimed the board stable up to 220fsb, so i dont think thats the problem.

maybe i should RMA my board and ram and get both new ones.

i still cant get memtest86 to work, is there another program

hey, fumbduck: with all due respect, you seem to be taking what Abit and OCZ are claiming about their products as gospel; in my experience, the claims of a vendor are never to be taken over my actual experience with the hardware, and I always start by re-examining my own technical application of the hardware and software before blaming the vendor(s). I check to make sure that there isn't an IRQ conflict, that the settings for my hardware (ie: video card) and drivers are safely troubleshooted, and that all the bios settings are sanely adjusted and stable at a sane/stock setting before I blame the motherboard/RAM vendor for faulty equipment. Where did you get that cpu, was it from the person I sold it to? Or, does it just happen to have the same markings/batch? You may want to PM maxSe, since he has the same motherboard as you and has had the same cpu; perhaps he can help (just tell him that Erik sent ya;)). Remember: start at stock/stable settings and work your way up from there, changing one setting at a time as you re-test for stability at higher speeds and more aggressive timings:).
