My computer dies with use, upon rebooting I get the message from the nice lady that "CPU temperature too high" or "CPU overclocking." I am not overclocking and I checked out all fans and stuff and they are all working (stock fan on CPU, a 3.0 GHz) there is a big case fan and the room is cool. I really don't think it is overheating. could be a motherboard or CPU problem??

Can you boot and enter BIOS setup? If so, check the "PC Health" or whatever its called and look at CPU temp there. Also, check to see what alarm values are set. You can leave it in the BIOS screen for a while and see how quickly the temp rises.

Also, who is the nice lady? Never met her, but maybe I don't want to

Is this a BIOS or Windows message?

Edit: One other thing: If your CPU temperatures have changed drastically from prior usage, maybe your case got bumped and dislodged the HSF just a little. Try removing and reinstalling with a fresh coat of thermal compound.
