This is my first post here, so hi all.
I've had this board for a few months. My original set-up involved RAID 0 (2 160gb Maxtors). Being my first forray into RAID I did not know I could not reformat my OS partition without having to rebuild the array from scratch. Needless to say I had to reinstall XP and found out the hard way I had to wipe out all partitions. I've decided to forget about RAID 0 and just go with 2 seperate 160gb drives. The drives are ultra ata 133 7200/8mb cache and I would like the benefit of 133 rather than 100 from the regular IDE channels. Here's my question, can I enable the RAID controller in the BIOS, select IDE, and use one of those drives to install my XP on and be able to boot from it? If so do I still need to install the Promise drivers? I hope someone understands my question, let me know if I need to better explain myself. For what it's worth here is what I have in my box:
P4C800E Deluxe
P4 2.8 800fsb
2 512 corsair xms extreme
2 160gb ultra 133 8mb cache Maxtor's
Lite-On 52x
NEC 1300a DVD burner
9800 XT
Thanks in advance to all who help out.
