I have a P4C800 that I bought the day they came out and haven't used yet. Until today. I set it up with a dvd and cd/rw on the secondary master/slave channel. I have to WD 40JB's set-up on the SATA1 channel. The drives had been used on a INTEL 865PERL board that went south on me. They were RAIDED on that board as well. So I boot the computer tonight and they two HS's show up as being on the third and fourth master. However, at no point in the boot-up process does it ask me how I want to set-up the RAID. I also have flashed the BIOS with the latest from ASUS.
Now I know that this mobo uses the ICH5 and not ICH5R, but this change the way you set-up RAID? I have RAID turned on in the BIOS. I have the hardware set-up to use the combo p-ata/s-ata. I've tried booting with both the promise controller on and off. The only difference I get is that with it on, the BIOS tell me I have nothing attached so therefore the promise bios is not loaded. Then it just goes to the usual "please insert boot disk...yada yada yada..."
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
